The International 10 promises to be an exciting event where teams will compete for a prize pool of $40,018,195. The venue is Bucharest.

The tournament was originally scheduled to take place from August 18 to 23, 2020, at the Avicii Arena in Stockholm, Sweden. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Valve postponed the event to 2021. Later, Valve announced that the tournament would take place from August 5 to 15, 2021. However, due to problems with the tournament in Sweden, Valve announced that the tournament will take place from October 7 to 17 at Arena Națională in Bucharest, Romania.

Participants

  • 12 teams qualify through the Dota Pro Circuit
  • 6 teams go through regional qualifying rounds; one team from North America, South America, Western Europe, Eastern Europe, China, and Southeast Asia

Group stage - 07.10.2021 - 10.10.2021:

  • Two round robin groups of nine teams each
  • All series - Bo2
  • The top four teams in each group advance to the top group of the Main Event
  • The teams that took the 5th-8th places advance to the lower group of the Main Event
  • The remaining teams in each group are eliminated

Tiebreaker rules

  • In the event of a tie between the top and bottom groups or between the bottom group and the elimination group (hereinafter referred to as "groups"), additional games will be played in accordance with the following rules:
    • Two-way tie: Bo3
    • Three-way tie or more: Bo1 round-robin
  • If there are any ties that still result in a tie on the dividers, repeat until the teams that are still tied are resolved.
  • If there are still ties that are not related to the separators, then the rules that are not related to the separators will be used to resolve the ties.

For other (non-dividing) ties, the following rules are used:

  1. Compare the series result between the tied teams.
  2. Compare the number of wins of the tied teams with the team seeded below them. Repeat the comparison with the next team seeded below them until the issue is resolved.
  3. Draw.

The main event - 12.10.2021 to 17.10.2021:

  • Sixteen teams participate in the double-elimination bracket competition.
  • Eight teams will start in the Upper Bracket, eight - in the Lower Bracket
  • In the 1st round of the Upper Bracket, the team that took 1st place in each group of the group stage chooses an opponent from the 3rd or 4th place in the opposite group.
  • In the 1st round of the Lower Bracket, the 5th place team in each group of the group stage chooses an opponent from the 7th or 8th place in the opposite group.
  • Lower Bracket round 1 - Bo1, Grand Final - Bo5, all other series - Bo3
