Fnatic is a British esports organization founded on July 23, 2004. The European club launched its Dota 2 division in 2011, but by 2012 it had established a foothold in the Pacific region and later in Southeast Asia, becoming one of the most recognizable teams.

2011–2015

The first Serbian roster failed to achieve success, and in March 2012, the organization signed a Heroes of Newerth roster: Adrian Era Crieziu, Kai H4nn1 Hanbukers, Kalle Trixi Saarininen, Johan N0tail Sundstein, and Tal Fly Isaac.

At The International 2013, the team finished in 7th–8th place. However, at The International 2014, the team underperformed, finishing only in 13th–14th place. A progressive decline in results and internal conflicts led to the disbandment of the European roster.

In June 2015, Fnatic officially switched its region to Southeast Asia by signing the Team Malaysia roster. At The International 2015, the revamped roster completely flopped, finishing in 13th–16th place, which led to a series of spot substitutions.

2016–2017

2016 marked the peak of the organization’s history. At The International 2016, the roster featuring Chai Yi Mushi Fung, Yeak MidOne Nai Zheng, Ku Ohaiyo Chong Sin-eum, Jardel DJ Mampusti, and Adam 343 Shah finished in 4th place.

However, the departure of MidOne disrupted the team’s chemistry. The following season turned into a string of setbacks: at The International 2017, the team finished 17th–18th, being eliminated in the group stage, after which management completely rebuilt the roster around DJ.

2018–2020

With the new lineup, Fnatic’s results did not improve. The club dominated the Southeast Asian qualifiers but failed to achieve significant results on the world stage. At The International 2018 and The International 2019, Fnatic once again finished in 13th–16th place.

The team started 2020 with victories at a number of Tier 2 tournaments, but by the end of the year, their results had deteriorated, and the roster underwent changes once again.

2021–2023

Attempts to refresh the roster with Asian talent were unsuccessful. At The International 2021, Fnatic finished in 9th–12th place. The poor result led to the removal of ChYuan and Deth.

In 2022, Armel and Jaunuel. joined the team. The roster secured top-three finishes at three Majors: ESL One Stockholm Major 2022, PGL Arlington Major 2022, and ESL One Malaysia 2022. Thanks to the DPC points they earned, Fnatic qualified for The International 2022, but once again finished in 13th–16th place.

After TI, Fnatic revamped its roster, but following several poor performances at Tier 2 and Tier 3 tournaments, the organization shut down its Dota division.
