Team Secret is a European esports organization founded on August 27, 2014. Following a disappointing performance at The International 2014, Kuro KuroKy Salehi Tahasomi and Johan N0tail Sundstein decided to create a team that would be run by the players themselves, without being affiliated with any organization.

They invited their teammates — Clement Puppey Ivanov, Tal Fly Aizik, and Gustav s4 Magnusson — to join the project. These five players formed the team’s first roster.

Over the years, Team Secret has won numerous Tier 1 tournaments, has repeatedly been ranked among the world’s strongest teams, and has earned over $18,000,000 in prize money.

2014–2015

Within the first few months of its existence, the team won XMG Captains Draft 2.0 and Dota Pit League Season 2, but the first roster changes weren’t long in coming.

In early 2015, Fly and N0tail left the team, and they were replaced by Artur Arteezy Babaev and Ludwig zai Wåhlberg from Evil Geniuses.

Almost immediately, the team became a leader on the pro scene, winning The Summit 3, StarLadder StarSeries Season 12, MarsTV Dota 2 League 2015 Spring, and a number of other major tournaments.

Ahead of The International 2015, the team was considered the tournament’s top favorite. However, the team unexpectedly failed to even make the top 6, which led to roster changes.

Arteezy returned to EG, while zai took a break from his career to finish his studies, and the team competed with substitutes for several tournaments. Jacky EternaLEnVy Mao, Johan pieliedie Oström, Rasmus MISERY Filipsen, and Omar w33 Aliwi.

In their very first tournament with the new lineup, the team won the Nanyang Dota 2 Championships and also took second place at The Frankfurt Major 2015, finishing the season among the leaders of the Tier 1 scene.

2016

The year began for the team with a victory at The Shanghai Major 2016. However, despite the win, w33 and MISERY left the team and were replaced by Saahil UNiVeRsE Arora and Artur Babaev, who returned to the roster.

However, ahead of the qualifiers for The International 2016, UNiVeRsE was replaced by Kanishka BuLba Sosale, who helped the team qualify for the main tournament of the year.

The second half of the year was unsuccessful for the team, and for the new season, the organization unveiled a new roster centered around Arteezy and BuLba. They were joined by Pio MP No-a, Zheng MidOne Yek Nai, and Maurice KheZu Gutmann.

The club also tried playing with Lee Forev Sang-don, but ultimately settled on KheZu.

2017–2018

Another start to the year for Team Secret went poorly, and the team once again decided to make changes.

A key development was the addition of Yazid YapzOr Zaradat in place of pieliedie. Later, Marcus Ace Hoelgaard and Adrian FATA- Trinks joined the roster, replacing MP and KheZu.

It was this roster that restored the team’s status as a perennial title contender. The team won DreamLeague Season 8 and 9, and also consistently placed highly at major tournaments.

At The International 2018, the team reached the top 6, which was the club’s best result in several years, but despite this, Ace and FATA- left the team.

Ahead of ESL One Hamburg 2018, the roster welcomed new players Michal Nisha Jankowski and zai, who had previously been part of the roster. These changes led the team to victory at the championship, ending the season on a high note.

2019–2020

After replacing MidOne with Lasse MATUMBAMAN Urpalainen, the team entered a period that is still considered the golden age in the organization’s history.

In 2019, Team Secret won the MDL Disneyland Paris Major, ESL One Hamburg 2019, and numerous other championships, and at The International 2019, the team finished in fourth place.

A year later, the team continued to dominate the European scene and won seven major tournaments in a row. Many fans still consider the lineup of Puppey, Nisha, MATUMBAMAN, zai and YapzOr to be the strongest in the club’s history.

2021–2022

Following the departures of Wolberg and Urpalainen, the organization once again restructured its roster.

At various times, the club featured Sumail SumaiL Hassan, Bakyt Zayac Emilzhanov, Roman Resolut1on Fominok, Remko Crystallis Aretz, and Miroslav BOOM Bican.

Despite a difficult start to the season, the team managed to qualify for The International 2022 and sensationally reached the tournament’s grand final, but lost to Tundra Esports, finishing in second place.

For Puppey, this was his first The International final since winning the championship with Natus Vincere in 2011.

2023–2026

After TI11, the team’s results began to gradually decline. The organization regularly rotated players in an attempt to find a new championship-caliber roster.

The team included Remi Yamich Bityulin, Marcel Ekki Holovenko, Arman Malik Orazbaev, and many other players from the European scene.

However, they were unable to regain their former success. Team Secret ceased to compete for major tournament titles and, for the first time in a long while, found itself outside the Tier 1 scene.

In February 2026, the organization officially disbanded the roster and announced that it was suspending its Dota operations.
