History
Vici Gaming is a Chinese esports organization founded on October 21, 2012. After a disappointing qualification for The International 2013 and an unsuccessful performance at the Dota 2 Super League, Vici Gaming parted ways with managers PandaPanPan and Nada, replacing them with Mikasa. This proved to be a crucial move for the organization, as the Chinese team actively started participating in European tournaments and securing prize placements. By the end of the 2013-2014 season, the team received a direct invitation to The International 2014, where they secured 2nd place, losing to Newbee, and earned over one million dollars. Many fans associate this roster (Sylar, Super, rOtk, Fenrir, and fy) with the "golden era" of the team, reaching the grand finals through the lower bracket, defeating Cloud9, Team DK, and Evil Geniuses in succession.
Following The International 2014, Vici Gaming strengthened its roster by acquiring Black and Iceiceice as the carry and offlaner, respectively. Thanks to these transfers, the team claimed top positions in premier tournaments such as i-League, ESL One New York 2014, and The Summit 2. In February 2015, Vici Gaming was invited to Dota 2 Asia Championships 2015, which had the largest prize pool outside international tournaments. The team secured the 2nd place in the tournament, eliminating the favorites Team Secret but falling to Evil Geniuses in the grand finals. At The International 2015, the team finished in 4th place, narrowly avoiding elimination at the start of the tournament.
Subsequent roster shuffles had a negative impact on the team's performance: after a disappointing season, the main roster failed to qualify for The International 2016, and the secondary team – Vici Gaming Reborn – finished 13-16th alongside Team Secret and Natus Vincere. Following this setback, veteran fy, who had been with Vici Gaming since 2012, left the organization.
The team made a comeback with the roster featuring Paparazi and Ori: 2nd place at ESL One Katowice 2018, 3rd place at MDL Changsha Major, and a final placement of 9-12th at The International 2018. Strengthening the roster with Yang, Fade, and Dy brought long-awaited victories at DreamLeague Season 11, EPICENTER Major 2019, and a 5-6th place at The International 2019. However, subsequent roster changes once again worsened the team's situation.
In May 2023, the organization disbanded its Dota 2 roster and went inactive. In May 2025, Vici Gaming returned to the Dota 2 pro scene with a revamped roster. At that time, the roster with Paparazi, Ori, Yang, Kaka, and Dy tried to qualify for The International 2025, but after failing in the qualifiers, the organization went inactive again.
On October 6 Lou Lou Zhen, Guo Xm Hongcheng, Chung Ws Wei Shen, Xiong Pyw Jiahan, Ding Dy Cong, and coach Wang Maps Yutian have officially joined Vici Gaming. In October, the team competed at FISSURE PLAYGROUND 2 but failed to advance past the group stage.
On December 25, it became known that Tidebound shut down its Dota 2 division, with three players immediately joining Vici Gaming: Zhang y Yiping, Guo shiro Huanan and Lin planet Hao became part of the roster, while Ding Dy Sun, Lu lou Zheng and Xiong Pyw Jiahan left the team.
On January 8, 2026, Chung Ws Wei Shen officially left the team and joined Aurora Gaming.
On January 24, it became known that Zhang Bach Ruida became part of Vici Gaming.
At the end of March, Lin planet Hao took a break to recover after undergoing eye surgery. During his absence, Zhao XinQ Zixing replaced him.
The changes also affected the coaching staff: Wang Maps Yutian left the team, and Yao Yao Zhengzheng took his place.
