History
Team Spirit is a cybersports organization from Russia, which has teams in Hearthstone, CS:GO and Dota 2. The team's Dota 2 roster dates back to December 2015, when they signed CIS Rejects. Previously, they managed to win the PGL Dota 2 Pro-AM and successfully qualify for StarLadder i-League StarSeries Season 1.
The team showed promise by winning ProDotA Cup Europe #1 and placing 3rd-4th at the D2Cl Christmas Charity Magic. Then they managed to qualify for The Shaghai Major 2016, where they managed to take only 13-16th place, which allowed them to earn $30,000 USD. AfterLife and RAMZES666 left the team, after that the team was replaced by XBOCT, Illidan and Funn1k - which had a negative impact on the team's performance and in August Team Spirit was disbanded.
On the eve of 2017 the following roster was formed: Iceberg, fng, VANSKOR, DkPhobos and 633. During the first half of the year he showed good results, where he managed to win prizes at small tournaments, but failed to qualify for The International 2017, which led to replacements in the team.
In 2018, Team Spirit's lineup looked like this: DkPhobos, Biver, fng, God and Illidan. In this form, the team managed to qualify for ESL One Birmigham 2018, where it took 7-9th place and China Dota2 Supermajor - 13-16th place, which brought more than 30,000 USD. The management of the organization was not satisfied with these victories, after which a new roster was created with European players, namely Nine, Skiter, HeStEJoE-, Biver and RoTTEn and captain fng. Then the team managed to win Cryptomaster and Atumn Cup, as well as to take the 2nd place at Taurora Invitational 2. These results did not satisfy the management and the roster was disbanded.
The next Team Spirit roster was the Positive Guys mix roster. It managed to take 13-16th place at MDL Chengdu Major, 5-6th place at WePlay! Bukovei Minor 2020 and 4th at Epic Prime League Season 1, after which the Dota 2 roster was disbanded. However, in December, Yellow Submarine mix was signed, after replacing so bad with Miroslaw - the team manages to win The International 2021.
In December 2023, the team undergoes a change: midlaner TORONTOTOKYO leaves and is replaced by larl, an ambitious and promising player.
With a new roster, the team manages to take first place at Riyadh Masters 2023 and DreamLeague Season 21, and become two-time champions of The International, winning The International 2023.
The next year didn't start off so well for Spirit. First, 6th place at BetBoom Dacha Dubai 2024 and 4th place at DreamLeague Season 22, DreamLeague Season 23 and 1WIN Series Spring, then 13th at Elite League 2024 and 10th at ESl One Birmingham 2024. However, the team managed to come together and show a great result at PGL Wallachia Season 1, taking 1st place there, defeating Xtreme Gaming in the final with a score of 3:2. However, in the summer, the team failed to handle Xtreme in the grand finals of the Clavision Snow Ruyi Invitational. Spirit also finished 7th at Riyadh Masters 2024, unexpectedly losing to PSG Quest in the lower bracket of the playoffs, and won the 1win Series Summer. At FISSURE Universe Ep.3 ,Team Spirit took 2nd place.
At the The International 2024, Team Spirit finished in 9-12th place, losing to Xtreme Gaming in the lower bracket of the playoffs. Right after the tournament, Raddan and Mira went inactive.
- September 26, 2024 - Team Spirit presented a new roster.
The first tournament for the updated roster was BetBoom Dacha Belgrade 2024, where the team successfully reached the 4th place. After that, the team performed at DreamLeague Season 24, finishing in 3rd place and was a finalist at the 1win Series Dota 2 Fall. At BLAST SLAM I, the collective failed, placing 9th-10th, and at ESL One Bangkok 2024 Spirit finished at 4th place.
On December 18, Malik announced that he leaving Team Spirit, and on January 3, 2025, Collapse, Yatoro and Silent returned to the team. The updated team debuted at FISSURE PLAYGROUND, where they placed 4th.
- February 26, 2025 - Mira has officially left Team Spirit.
In March, the updated roster secured its first victory at DreamLeague Season 25, defeating Tundra Esports with a score of 3-2. Later that month, the team placed in the top-4 at PGL Wallachia: Season 3. A little later, the team participated in FISSURE Universe Ep.4 , where they lost in the second round of the lower bracket and finished in 6th place. In April, Team Spirit became a finalist of ESL One Raleigh 2025, where they lost to PARIVISION 1:3.
Later, at the end of April, the team competed at PGL Wallachia Season 4, where they lost in the quarterfinals of the lower bracket playoffs and left the tournament, finishing in 5th-6th place.
In May 19, 2025, the team was scheduled to participate in DreamLeague Season 26 however they withdrew. A bit later, the team participated in BLAST SLAM III, finishing their run in the semifinals and placing 3rd-4th. In the summer, Spirit competed at PGL Wallachia Season 5 and finished in 4th place. In July, the team became a two-time champion of the Riyadh Masters tournament series as part of the Esports World Cup 2025, defeating Team Falcons in the grand final with a score of 3-0.
In August, Larl missed the FISSURE Universe: Episode 6 tournament due to health reasons. At FISSURE Universe: Episode 6, the team took 2nd place. At The International 2025, the two-time world champions suffered a sensational defeat. The Dragons failed to even reach the playoffs. The team lost to Team Falcons in an elimination match in the group stage.
On October 9, Miposhka left the main roster of Team Spirit. His place in the team was taken by Nikita Panto Balaganin.
At the end of October, Spirit participated in FISSURE PLAYGROUND 2, where they finished in 5th–6th place after losing in the second round of the Playoff stage.
In November, Spirit competed at BLAST SLAM IV, where they reached the playoffs but lost in the quarterfinals, finishing in 5th–6th place. In the subsequent PGL Wallachia Season 6, Team Spirit reached the final but unexpectedly lost to MOUZ in the final match.
At DreamLeague Season 27, Team Spirit delivered a solid performance and reached the grand final. However, the team failed to defeat Team Yandex in the title match.
In January 2026, Silent left his position as team coach and was transferred to inactive roster.
At the first tournament of 2026, FISSURE Universe: Episode 8, the team finished in second place, falling just short of the championship.
At the beginning of 2026, Denis Larl Sigitov went on leave and was temporarily replaced by Marat Mirele Gazetdinov. With him, Spirit finished in 2nd place at FISSURE Universe: Episode 8, reaching the tournament’s grand final.
After that, the team’s results began to decline. At BLAST Slam VI and DreamLeague Season 28, the roster placed low and failed to reach the playoffs.
In early March, ahead of PGL Wallachia Season 7, the organization announced the signing of a new coach, Milan MiLAN Kozomara, as well as the return of Larl to the main roster. At the tournament Spirit finished in the top 4.
At ESL One Birmingham 2026, the team placed 5–6th, reaching the playoff stage.
In early April, the organization announced that Magomed Collapse Khalilov had taken a break, with Bogdan Batyuk Batyuk stepping in as a stand-in.
Due to constant roster changes, the team failed to finish in the top 6 at the online tournament PREMIER SERIES and did not receive a share of the prize pool. At the following LAN event, PGL Wallachia Season 8, the team reached the playoffs but was eliminated in the first round, finishing 7–8.
In May, Team Spirit updated its roster: rue took the fifth position in the roster in place of Panto, and Aleksei not me Kosmynin became the new fourth position player.
