About the tournament
The International 2025 is the fourteenth annual championship of The International series and will be held in Hamburg, Germany.
Participants:
- Sixteen teams.
- Important: Gaimin Gladiators withdrew from the tournament because the players were unable to reach an agreement with club.
- Important: Yakutou Brothers will participate in the tournament. The team will replace Gaimin Gladiators, who declined to participate in the tournament.
- Important: Tundra Esports will play the tournament with a stand-in. Whitemon has visa issues, he will be replaced by Tobi.
Group stage - 04.09.2025 - 07.09.2025:
- Modified Swiss system for 16 teams:
- All matches are Bo3;
- Top three teams advance to playoffs;
- 4th to 13th place teams proceed to a special elimination round;
- Remaining teams are eliminated.
- Special Elimination Round:
- Five teams advance to playoffs;
- Remaining teams are eliminated.
When teams are tied, the following rules apply
- Percentage of Games Won;
- Total Number of Matches Won by Opponents Played;
- Average Percentage of Games Won by Opponents Played;
- Coin Toss.
Rules for forming pairs
Swiss stage
- Pairs are made up of teams with equal results.
- As far as possible, repeat matches should be avoided.
- As far as possible, the distance between teams in the standings should be minimized.
- Exceptions to the standard Swiss system rules:

- Teams are divided into two groups;
- Pairs are assigned by the tournament organizer; teams in the same group play each other.

Pairs are created only within the initial group.

There are no changes to the standard Swiss system rules.

Knockout matches
- All teams are divided into two pots according to their final statistics in the main group stage draw.
- The statistically strongest team gets the weakest opponent possible.
- If the team being matched has already played the weakest team on the list in the main draw, it will play the next team on the list.
- If a team has played all possible opponents, it will receive the weakest available opponent on the list.
Playoffs - 11.09.2025 - 14.09.2025:
- Double-elimination bracket;
- All matches except the Grand Final are Bo3;
- Grand Final - Bo5.
