Tournament The International 2024

The International 2024 is the thirteenth annual championship of The International series and will be held in Copenhagen, Denmark.

Participants:

• 16 clubs will participate in the championship;
• 6 teams have received a direct invite to the tournament;
• 10 teams qualified through regional qualifiers;
• Two teams from South America, Western Europe, China and Southeast Asia;
• One team each from North America and Eastern Europe.

Group Stage - 04.09.2024 - 07.09.2024:

• Phase One:
  
  • Four groups of four teams each;
  • Single round-robin;
  • All matches are Bo2;
  • The top two teams in each group will face the 3rd or 4th place teams in opposite groups (A/B and C/D) for seeding matches.
• Phase Two (Seeding Decider):
  
  • Sixteen teams play eight Bo3 head to head matches to determine main event bracket placement.

Tiebreaker rules:

• Two teams are tied for 1st and 2nd place, 2nd and 3rd place:
  

  • Resolve with a Best of Three.
• Two teams are tied for 3rd and 4th place:
  

  • No further games are played. The two teams stay tied for 3rd and 4th place.
• Three teams are tied for 1st place:
  

  • Resolve 1st place by playing a round robin Best of One until one team wins twice.
  • Continue playing until all teams have played each other at least once. Use the most recent round robin results to resolve 2nd and 3rd place.
• Three teams are tied for 2nd place:
  

  • Resolve 2nd place by playing a round robin Best of One until one team wins twice.
  • No further games are played. The two other teams stay tied for 3rd and 4th place.
• Four teams are tied for 1st place:
  

  • Pair the teams randomly. For the purposes of these rules, call these teams Team A, Team B, Team C, and Team D.
  • Team A plays Team B in a Best of One. Team C plays Team D in a Best of One.
  • Resolve 1st place by playing a Best of One between the winner of A/B and the winner of C/D.
  • Resolve 4th place by playing a Best of One between the loser of A/B and the loser of C/D.
  • Resolve 2nd and 3rd place by playing a Best of One between the remaining teams.

Main Event - 08.09.2024 - 10.09.2024 (Playoffs Weekend) and 13.09.2024 - 15.09.2024 (Finals Weekend).

• Double-elimination bracket;
• Eight teams start in the top grid, eight in the bottom grid;
• Grand Final is Bo5, all other series are Bo3.
