The International 12 will be held in Seattle from October 12 to October 29. The format of the group stage is as follows: 4 groups of 5 teams, the weakest of which will leave the tournament.
Detailed format of The International 12: this year the organizers decided to innovate:
Participants:
- 12 teams qualified through the Dota Pro Circuit 2023 season;
- 8 clubs were selected through regional qualifications. South America and Western Europe had 2 slots each, while the rest had 1 slot each.
Group Stage (October 12-15):
Phase One:
- 4 groups of 5 teams each. All matches in Bo2 format, single round-robin system;
- The best 2 teams of each group will play with 3-4 opposing places (Group A vs. Group B and Group C vs. Group D) to advance to the second phase;
- The weakest teams of each group will finish the tournament.
Phase Two:
- The 16 teams remaining at the end of Phase One will play each other in a Bo3 format for the allocation of slots in the Main Event.
Main Event (October 20-29):
- This phase of the tournament is divided into 2 stages: Playoffs Weekend and Finals Weekend;
- Playoffs Weekend will be from October 20-22, and Finals Weekend will be from October 27-29;
- In the end, 16 teams will play a double-elimination system, with 8 clubs starting from the Upper Bracket and another 8 from the Lower Bracket;
- The format of the games is Bo3, the grand final Bo5.
