Successful comeback for XinQ and Bo8 for the slot — DreamLeague Season 29: Asia and Americas qualifiers results
The closed qualifiers for DreamLeague Season 29 have come to an end. In total, teams competed for eight spots in the main event, and it’s time to summarize the results. Four tournament slots were allocated in the European qualifiers. One slot each was allocated in the qualifiers for North and South America, Southeast Asia, and China.
China
Vici Gaming breezed through the Chinese qualifiers, not losing a single map. As a reminder, in March, Zhao XinQ Zixing joined the team; he had been inactive for over six months, but even after such a long hiatus, he is once again demonstrating a high level of play: in the qualifiers, he had a KDA ratio above 10. It should be noted that Yakult Brothers, who defeated Vici in the qualifiers for BLAST Slam VII and competed against Xtreme Gaming in the final showdown for a LAN slot in Copenhagen, were eliminated from the DreamLeague qualifiers rather quickly, losing to little-known teams.
North America
Four teams vied for a spot in the North American qualifiers. However, only two actually played matches in the qualifiers: Amaru Gaming and GamerLegion. Their opponents suffered technical defeats in all series. According to Vladimir Maelstorm Kuzminov, the not squad did not compete against GamerLegion due to a clause in the contract of former GL carry Luke YamSun Vaughn, which prevents him from playing against his organization. Although Luke has left the club’s active roster, he is still under contract. The reason for DarkStorm’s refusal to participate in the competition is unknown. GamerLegion’s only opponent in the qualifiers, Amaru Gaming, failed to win a single map against the team in the two series played. GL easily secured a slot in the tournament. The team's offlaner, Viktor Fayde Zuev, died only once across two series, and his KDA ratio in the qualifiers was 110.
South America
In the South American qualifiers, Heroic secured a slot. Although not as flawless as Vici, the team reached the grand final via the upper bracket and, in a hard-fought series for a spot in the tournament, managed to defeat the former roster of paiN Gaming, which competes under the tag South America Rejects and had previously taken a slot from Heroic at ESL One Birmingham 2026, but this time proved to be the weaker team.
Southeast Asia
The results of the Southeast Asia qualifiers were also no surprise: REKONIX earned a spot in the championship, qualifying for a Tier 1 tournament for the third time, though their path through the qualifiers was not easy. Just like BetBoom Team in the Eastern European qualifiers, the team fell into the lower bracket in the very first series, where they faced their strongest opponents — OG, Team Nemesis, and GLYPH. After defeating the favorites in the lower bracket, REKONIX easily beat Ivory Team in the grand final. It should be noted that GLYPH, which took the slot from REKONIX at BLAST Slam VII, looked noticeably weaker in these qualifiers. The updated OG roster also does not yet show promise for strong results.
The closed qualifiers for DreamLeague Season 29 took place from 12.04.2026 to 15.04.2026. The main stage of the tournament will take place from 13.05.2026 to 24.05.2026 in an online format, with 16 teams competing for a prize pool of $1,000,000.
