Effective HP
Effective HP (EHP) in Dota 2 is a metric that reflects how much damage an enemy must deal to kill a hero, taking into account not only their current health, but also their damage resistance (armor against physical damage and magic resistance against magical damage). In other words, it is the amount of damage a unit can take, taking into account armor and magic resistance.
A unit with 0% magic resistance and 0 armor has 100% effective health. This means that damage equal to 100% of its health will kill this unit.
Magical EHP:
- Each point of intelligence increases magic resistance by 0.001;
- Most heroes have 25% magic resistance by default, which makes their effective health against magic damage 133.33%.

Physical EHP:
- Each point of agility increases armor by 0.167 (1/6);
- The formula adds 6% EHP per armor point regardless of the previous armor value. A unit gaining 1 armor at 0 armor will increase its EHP from 100% to 106%. A unit receiving 1 armor to 50 armor will increase its EHP from 400% to 406%;
- 16.66 armor adds 100% to EHP. This means that a unit with 1000 health and 16.66 armor can take 2000 physical damage.
