The Dark Carnival: how to complete the event and earn all rewards
The mechanics of The Dark Carnival are almost identical to last year's Crownfall event. Players progress through Ringmaster's interactive train map, unlocking new nodes, story chapters, and additional objectives.
The main way to progress is by earning special Carnival Tickets, which are awarded after Dota 2 matches. Each hero is associated with three specific ticket types, so your hero choice directly determines which tickets you can earn.
Winning a match grants one ticket of each of the three types linked to your selected hero. Losing awards only one random ticket from that set. In Turbo mode, the rewards are reduced: a victory grants two tickets, while defeats do not award any tickets.
The collected resources remain in the event inventory until they are spent to unlock the next node on the map. Each node requires a specific combination of different ticket types, making it impossible to complete the event by playing only a single hero.
To finish the event, players will need to use heroes from different categories. You can check which ticket type is required by clicking the ticket icon on the desired map node. The game will then display the heroes that can earn that specific ticket type.
If you are missing the required resources, you can use the Ticket Trader system. It allows you to exchange accumulated tickets of one type for another without having to switch to a different hero. The exchange is performed directly through the event interface.
There are two ways to obtain a ticket of the required type: by exchanging three identical tickets or any four tickets of different types.
Players can also earn a Seeing Stone each day by completing their first Dota 2 match. This special item can be exchanged with Oracle for random bonuses, including additional tickets, Candyworks candies, cosmetic items, and other rewards.
The event is divided into three acts. The first act is already available and includes the Prison Car and the Foundry Car, while the remaining chapters will unlock over time.
To progress, simply play regular Dota 2 matches, collect the required tickets, and unlock new map nodes as you advance through The Dark Carnival story campaign.
