Magic Resistance
Magic resistance is a mechanic in Dota 2 that reduces the amount of magical damage a hero receives. Magic resistance is expressed as a percentage reduction of magical damage, and its value can be increased through items, auras, or abilities.
Every hero in the game has a base magic resistance, which can be increased, for example, by using items like Pipe of Insight. Magic resistance helps heroes survive under magical damage and reduce its impact, which is especially important for heroes who are frequently attacked by mages or abilities that deal magical damage.
The total amount of magic damage a unit can take due to the magic resistance it has is known as “effective HP”
