Team Liquid eliminated Team Falcons from BLAST SLAM VI

After a one-week break, BLAST SLAM VI resumed, and in the first Playoff match Team Liquid defeated Team Falcons 3:2 and advanced further, while the Falcons finished the tournament in 5-6th place. In head-to-head meetings, Falcons had won 8 out of 10 series, but this time they lost.

Falcons played the first map in their usual style, building a massive advantage and locking the opponent on their base. Their final gold lead exceeded 60,000. On the second map, they failed to set a good tempo, and Liquid fully controlled the start of the game, managed to keep the advantage until the end and tied the series.

The third map remained even until the 20th minute, but after a successful fight near the Roshan pit, Liquid moved ahead and closed the game. However, on the fourth map the opponent managed to tie the score by picking signature Doom for Ammar ATF Al-Assaf. The outcome of the match was decided on the fifth map.

Both teams had strong drafts, so for the first 20 minutes the game was equal again, but in terms of individual and team execution Liquid looked better and at the 35th minute, with Aegis, they finished the game and won the series.

It is worth noting that the organizers changed the Playoff format, and for this tournament all matches will be played in a BO5 format. At the moment, it is unknown whether this format will be kept for future events in the series.

Team Liquid head coach William Blitz Lee commented on this format in a post-match interview:

BO5 shows a team’s preparation, and it is a huge difference compared to BO1 and BO3. My guys play around 20 ranked matches a day, so five maps are not a problem for them. In this series, I would name Nisha as the best player: he made good calls and showed an excellent performance. We are waiting for tomorrow’s match against OG, it will be interesting.

BLAST SLAM VI will take place from 03.02.2026 to 15.02.2026. The main stage of the tournament will take place from 13.02.2026 to 15.02.2026 in Malta. Twelve teams will compete for a prize pool of $1,000,000. You can follow the tournament in detail in the report.
