Insider hints at the upcoming release of the Frostivus winter event
Insider Wykrhm Reddy shared an image on his X page featuring the phrase Happy Holidays in the signature font of the Frostivus event. The community interpreted the post as a clear hint at an upcoming announcement of a winter holiday update from Valve.
Wykrhm is regarded as one of the most authoritative figures in the Dota community. Over the years, his social media posts have repeatedly served as the first signals of major patches, in-game events, and significant updates. Due to the accuracy and timing of his insights, fans have long associated him with Valve’s internal processes and even suspect a direct connection to the development of Dota 2.
If the community’s assumption proves correct, the official Frostivus announcement could appear in the coming days. The event is expected to introduce a temporary game mode, along with festive cosmetic items and treasure chests.
The previous Frostivus took place in December 2024. At that time, Valve added holiday-themed client visuals, an event quest and level system, free and paid rewards, the Frostivus Treasure with cosmetic items and several temporary bonuses and activities.
However, there has not been a fully fledged standalone event for quite some time, and many players, streamers, and other media personalities would prefer a new PvE event over another treasure.
