On the night of January 17, Valve banned a large number of smurf accounts in Dota 2, including those belonging to professional players. Many analysts shared their opinion about Valve's initiative to do it. Their opinion is divided, some believe that bans are the right decision, others condemn it.

Analyst Khaled sQreen El-Habbash thinks that smurf bans are a hundred percent the right decision, particularly for pro players. He told that this measure makes the chances of all players equal, and the decision itself leads to greater transparency of the system.

Streamer Rostislav rostislav_999 Protasenya said that he is going to delete his main account in Dota 2 to be able to create a new account. The player has repeatedly stressed that bans are unfair decision, in relation to him and other players.

Streamer Jean Gorgc Stefanowski discussed the difficulties faced by players with high ranks after the wave of bans. The content maker stated that such users can use FACEIT for group matches if they are not satisfied with the search time in the regular client.

Team Spirit's manager Dmitry Korb3n Belov commented on the wave of bans of smurf accounts of professional players. According to Belov, the responsibility for this lies on the streamer Rostislav rostislav_999 Protasenya.
