Rune
A rune is a temporary object on the Dota 2 map that grants a hero a powerful effect when picked up. Runes spawn at specific times during the game and play a key role in map control, farming, and initiating fights. Runes can be stored in a Bottle for later use. If unused for 90 seconds, the rune will activate automatically.
Types of runes and their effects:
- Regeneration Rune — fully restores HP and mana over a short period;
- Haste Rune — grants maximum movement speed and immunity to slows;
- Double Damage Rune — increases base attack damage by 80% and spell damage by 15% for 45 seconds;
- Invisibility Rune — makes the hero invisible for 45 seconds or until they attack or cast a spell;
- Illusion Rune — creates two hero illusions with reduced damage and increased incoming damage;
- Arcane Rune — reduces mana costs by 25% and ability cooldowns by 30% for 50 seconds;
- Bounty Rune — grants gold to the entire team and a bit of mana when picked up;
- Water Rune — spawns at minutes 2 and 4, restores a small amount of HP and mana.
Power Rune mechanics:
- Power Runes start spawning at 6:00 and then every 2 minutes (8:00, 10:00, etc.);
- They spawn randomly at one of the two river spots;
- If not picked up before the next one spawns, the previous rune disappears;
- The same rune cannot appear twice in the same cycle — all runes must rotate first;
- The first rune of a new cycle will never be the same as the last rune of the previous one.
