Wings Gaming was a Chinese Dota 2 organization founded in 2014. Despite its short history, the team secured a permanent place in Dota 2 history by winning The International 2016, where it showcased one of the most unique and entertaining playstyles ever seen on the professional stage.

2014–2015

In August 2014, Wings Gaming formed its first Dota 2 roster, featuring Zhang y` Yiping, JoyceChu, Yuki, That's It, and Zhang Faith_bian Ruida.

Just two months later, the organization almost completely rebuilt its lineup. Chu shadow Zeyu, Zhou bLink Yang, and Zhang jdh Hongtao joined the team.

At the end of the year, Faith_bian and y` left the roster but returned in the summer of 2015 as part of a rebuilt lineup. They were joined by shadow, bLink, and Li iceice Peng.

During the second half of 2015, Wings Gaming won the Chinese Open Qualifier for The International 2015, finished fourth at World Cyber Arena 2015, and regularly qualified for major international tournaments.

2016

The team's breakthrough came in 2016.

In the spring, Wings Gaming won ESL One Manila 2016, defeating Team Liquid 3-0 in the grand final. The team later finished runner-up at Nanyang Dota 2 Championships Season 2, claimed the title at The Summit 5 after defeating OG in the final, and then stunned the world by winning The International 2016. In the grand final, Wings defeated Digital Chaos 3-1, earning more than $9,000,000 in prize money, the largest championship payout in esports history at the time.

Wings Gaming became famous for its unique approach to the game. The team rarely repeated hero drafts, constantly experimented with strategies, and is widely regarded as one of the most unpredictable teams in professional Dota 2 history.

Following its TI victory, Wings also won Northern Arena BEAT Invitational, Nanyang Dota 2 Championships – Cruise Cup 1, finished in the top four at The Summit 6, and competed at The Boston Major 2016.

2017

Following the end of the season, the team's results began to decline. Wings Gaming finished 3rd-4th at ESL One Genting 2017, but shortly afterward the organization became involved in a dispute over unpaid player salaries. In April 2017, the entire championship roster left the organization to form Team Random, and Wings Gaming soon ceased operations.
