History

G2.iG - esports organization from China that was founded in 2011 by Catastrophic Cruel Memory, the strongest team the Defense of the Ancient discipline on that time. Soon after, it rebranded itself as Invictus Gaming, and then became the flagship of the Dota 2 scene in China. The team is led by former Catastrophic Cruel Memory and GoMax players.

The organization was initially headquartered in Beijing, but soon moved to Shanghai. Founded by Wang Sikong, the son of the tenth richest man in China, IG was envisioned as a new force that would dominate the scene through such characteristics as outstanding skill, unprecedented levels of professionalism and the personalities of its players.

After several transfers, they joined the team: Zhou, Ferrari_430, YYF, Chuan and Faith. With this roster, the team became the champion of The International 2012.

After that, the team underwent numerous reshuffles and featured many eminent players such as: BurNIng, Ana, Faith, Xiao8, Pyw and many other players. Invictus Gaming has repeatedly become the champion of major Dota 2 tournaments such as: WPS 2014, ESL One Frankfurt 2014, Dota 2 Asia Championships 2017, DOTA Summit 11, ONE Esports Singapore Major 2021.

The team did not show the best results for several previous seasons, but at the beginning of this season it was able to assemble a strong roster of players again. At the moment, its roster is as follows: Monet, NothingToSay, JT-, BoBoKa and xNova.

On December 8, 2023, the European eSports organization G2 Esports created a division for the discipline of Dota 2 and signed roster of the Invictus Gaming. From that moment, the roster began to represent the tag G2.iG. Under this name, the team became the champion of Esports Shanghai Masters 2023 and took part in the tournament ESL One: Kuala Lumpur 2023where they placed 5th string in the tournament leaderboard.

In January 2024, the team participated in qualifications for BetBoom Dacha Dubai 2024, DreamLeague Season 22 and ESL One Birmingham 2024. G2.IG managed to qualify for DreamLeague and LAN Birmingham, but at the BetBoom Dacha closed qualification, the squad was defeated by Blacklist International and dropped out of the tournament in 7th place.
