The first day of the playoffs of The Lima Major 2023 went bad for the organizers of the tournament in the capital of Peru. It took the teams almost 17 hours to play four best-of-3 matches of the upper bracket.

"So far, this is the worst tournament I've ever been to," Team Spirit team manager Dmitriy 'Korb3n' Belov commented on the situation with endless delays and pauses. Esports players expressed their displeasure with the level of organization of the tournament in the media and social networks, and ordinary viewers even came up with several alternative names for the first Major of the season: The Pause Major, The Delay Major, The Ligma Major and The Lina Delay-jor. There are many reasons for complaints – both technical and organizational.

The first to experience such problems were Gaimin Gladiators, who opened the first day of the playoffs of the main event of the DPC 2023 Tour 1. According to GG's support Eric 'tOfu' Engel, the initial delay was due to technical preparations on the stage. Later, when the players got to the booths, the team started having problems with headphones and microphone, which also took a long time to resolve.

"Such pauses are annoying: everyone just wanted to play, someone even wanted to go to the toilet. But we understood that the opponents are in the same situation," said tOfu.

In turn, Anton 'dyrachyo' Shkredov told that it was uncomfortable to be in the game booths on the stage due to the temperature and sound insulation problems.

"Even in the middle of the game, I realized that it was very hot in the booth. You can hear everything from above because of the thin plastic. It is strange and incomprehensible. There is glass everywhere, but for some reason not on the ceiling. It feels like the organizers lost them somewhere," he shared his impressions.

The Entity players were the next to face problems, but they were more reserved in their statements and even supported the tournament organizer. According to Dzmitry 'Fishman' Palishchuk and Alimzhan 'Watson' Islambekov, the game was delayed for two reasons: it was impossible to sit in the booth due to the high temperature, and then Fishman accidentally touched the network equipment under the table, which caused Stormstormer's ping to rise to 1000.

"In general, I want to note that the organizers are great people in the sense that they are very diligent. They failed a little bit, but this is not a reason to hate them and speak badly about them. To be honest, they are doing their best," said Fishman .

According to Korb3n, the organization of the tournament did affect the quality of Team Spirit's play. The team got up all week at 8 am, and the first games started at 10 am. In the playoffs, the team woke up as usual, early in the morning, and played late at night, which affected their game form. In addition, Mira's computer broke down during the second map. The player was given another one, but all his settings were gone. Miroslav forgot to change some of them during the break, remembering to do so only after the game has already started.
