Team Yandex became BLAST Slam VIII champions

In the grand final of BLAST Slam VIII, Team Yandex defeated Team Spirit 3-1 to become tournament champions, earning $270,000. Team Spirit received $135,000 for finishing second.

The first two games followed similar patterns but ended with different results. Martin Saksa Sazdov's team struggled against Ilya Yatoro Mulyarchuk's Ursa, but in the following game, they took control from the opening minutes and comfortably secured the victory.

The third game of the series stood out for the flawless performance of Yandex's core players. Carry Alimzhan Watson Islambekov and midlaner Ilya CHIRA_JUNIOR Chirtsov did not die a single time throughout the game, playing Nature's Prophet and Pangolier, respectively.

In the final game, analysts believed the team had already gained an advantage during the draft. This allowed them to take control early and maintain their lead until the end, closing out the series 3-1.

After finishing third at The International 2026, where Team Yandex lost to Team Spirit, Ammar ATF Al-Assaf joined the roster. The team won PGL Wallachia Season 9 in its first tournament with the new player and has now claimed its second trophy in a row.

BLAST Slam VIII took place from 29.09.2026 to 11.10.2026. The tournament featured 16 teams competing for a $750,000 prize pool. You can follow the tournament's results and progress in our coverage.
