DarkMago and Vintage match-fixing allegations: community reaction and the organization's statement
Following the temporary suspension of PlayTime mid laner Herrera Martínez DarkMago Oswaldo Gonzalo and coach Juan David Vintage Angulo Nicho, as well as the team's withdrawal from Esports World Cup 2026, members of the community began actively discussing the situation.
The club released an official statement emphasizing that the organization's management had no involvement in the alleged match-fixing or any other breaches of competitive integrity and had no prior knowledge of such activities.
In addition, the organization announced that it had launched its own internal investigation and had temporarily suspended the individuals involved until the review is completed.
Our commitment to fair play remains absolute. Should the official investigation confirm that any member of our roster engaged in unlawful activity, we will take immediate and decisive disciplinary action, including contract termination and formally notifying the appropriate governing bodies.
Streamer and professional player Andrii Ghostik Kadyk reviewed several DarkMago replays during his Twitch broadcast and stated that he noticed numerous suspicious in-game moments in the team's losses, while such situations were far less frequent in their victories.
Canadian streamer Artour Arteezy Babaev reached a similar conclusion. While watching PlayTime's matches, he stated that Herrera Martínez died far too often and expressed confidence that the player had been involved in match-fixing.

Nemiga Gaming manager Eduard zverHDD Ashurkevich also shared his thoughts on the situation, stating that the current investigation may be only part of a much larger story.
According to him, back in February he provided ESL and ESIC representatives with materials describing alleged match-fixing schemes in South America and possible connections between certain players and betting companies.
ZverHDD added that some of the information he had submitted was later confirmed. He also questioned whether ESIC had uncovered the current case on its own.
In any case, I have a feeling that we're only seeing the tip of the iceberg. Perhaps a few people simply became the necessary sacrifice to allow the tournament to be completed without further disruption.
Dota 2 analyst Timur Ahilles Kulmukhambetov also commented on the situation. He pointed out that only two members of the team had been sanctioned and suggested that the investigation could involve a much broader group of people.
I don't understand why only two people were accused. Are the others supposedly clean? Huge amounts had previously been wagered on PlayTime's defeats, and they got off lightly. Most likely, DarkMago did what Solo once did and took all the blame on himself.
Later, screenshots also surfaced online showing large bets placed on PlayTime to lose several group stage matches, including the team's most suspicious series against L1GA Team.

Team Spirit manager Dmitry Korb3n Belov also commented on the situation. He noted that he does not have any confirmed information but shared rumors currently circulating within the community.
According to rumors, DarkMago was going to be kicked after the tournament, so he decided to get revenge this way. But ESIC is a shady organization, and this whole situation could drag on for a long time.
At the moment, ESIC has not disclosed any details of the investigation. The commission emphasizes that the temporary suspensions are purely precautionary and that DarkMago and Vintage have not been officially found guilty.
In addition, if the allegations are confirmed, Peru's roster for Esports Nations Cup 2026 could also be affected, as both individuals are members of the national team.
The Esports World Cup 2026 for Dota 2 runs from 07.07.2026 to 19.07.2026. Twenty-four teams will compete for a prize pool of $2,000,000. You can follow the tournament in detail in our coverage.
