Yesterday, the grand final of PGL Wallachia Season 2 took place, where the South American team Heroic claimed the championship title, defeating Team Falcons 3:1.
Here we have collected the most interesting remarks about the tournament from active members of the Dota 2 pro-scene community, as well as from the players who participated in the grand final.
Team Falcons support Andreas Cr1t- Frank Nielsen commented on his team's performance at the tournament. In his opinion, Falcons played terribly, and he doesn't understand how they managed to place second. In conclusion, the player congratulated Heroic's carry David Parker Niho Flores, who was named the tournament's MVP.
We played terribly at this tournament, but somehow made it to top 2. I hope at least it was fun to watch.
I'm happy for South America and Parker.
Manager of Team Spirit Dmitry Korb3n Belov also expressed his respect for Parker.
Parker carried. He was really good at this tournament. Competition or no competition, he was really good at this event, no doubt about it.
Coach of Heroic Igor Kaffs Furtado shared that the victory at PGL Wallachia Season 2 is the result of many months of hard work. Igor concluded that any goal can be achieved, you just need to pursue it.
I’m overwhelmed by the amount of positive comments, I don’t even know how to start to be able to read them all. What you just witnessed was the result of many months of hard work. I hope this victory serves as motivation for some of you because it shows that when you really want something and work hard for it, you can really achieve it.
I’ll talk about this in more detail later, but for now, I just want to thank everyone for the support and say that this is obviously just the beginning. Love you all.
Midlaner of Team Falcons Stanislav Malr1ne Potorak gave an extended comment after the tournament. In his opinion, the team played terribly, and the loss was well-deserved.
We lost the final to Heroic 1:3. It was a well-deserved loss. Awful form, playing poorly, not much is working out. We're still in recovery mode. Hopefully, we’ll get better. Hopefully, because more tournaments are starting soon.
Heroic did great, real champs. Parker is a beast. Just a beast — 1v9.
Additionally, Malr1ne complained about technical issues at the tournament. According to him, during the second map, when he was playing Earth Spirit, Dota started lagging. Earth Spirit is a complex and difficult hero to play, and the lags made it impossible to play, Potorak said.
I don’t deny the fact that we played badly, but there seems to be some mythical force, just bad luck was on our side. I didn’t get a single rune when they randomized 50-50. The games were laggy. The first two games were fine. Then I got Earth Spirit. When the other guy played, it didn’t lag. When I played "earth," playing with these freezes, these lags... It’s just... It makes you want to do something you’ll regret.
I understand that everyone was lagging, but I think people who play Dota understand what it means to lag on "earth." It’s just impossible to play. You can’t hit a single spell. I completely lost the thread of the game. I didn’t understand what was happening or how to play.
Stanislav also highlighted Parker's performance, recalling several moments when the player was on the verge of death but still survived.
And the fact that Parker survived. Well, like, I don’t deny that he’s a genius, but he... I don’t know... five, six, seven times survived with just 10, 40, or one HP. A stun at 0.1 seconds, and he got away. This is called "luck favors the best." Or he’s just a genius who calculates everything ahead. That cannot be denied either.
PGL Wallachia Season 2 ran from October 4 to October 13. The tournament featured 16 teams. The prize pool was $1,000,000.
