What is Lane?

A lane is one of the three main paths on the Dota 2 map where heroes and creeps move and early-game battles occur. There are top, middle, and bottom lanes, each with its own characteristics.
For the Radiant side, the bottom lane is considered easier — it’s typically chosen for heroes who need time to farm and level up. The top lane is more difficult because the creep meeting point is farther from the T1 tower, and there’s less jungle nearby compared to the bottom lane. For the Dire side, the situation is reversed due to the mirrored map layout, while the middle lane remains the same for both teams.
The choice of lane affects a hero’s playstyle and the team’s overall strategy. Controlling a lane helps secure an early advantage, and timely movement across the map can build on that momentum.
