The Buchholz coefficient
This is an additional indicator used to determine the position of a team in the tournament table when points are equal. It is calculated as the sum of the points of all teams with which the team has played in a Swiss system tournament. The method was proposed by German chess player and theorist Bruno Buchholz in 1932. Initially, it was used in the Swiss system of chess tournaments to refine the ranking of players with the same number of points.
