The Ame Curse

The Ame Curse is a term in the Dota 2 community referring to the series of failures of Chinese professional player Wang Ame Chunyu in the grand finals of The International.

Despite consistently showing top-level performance and being regarded as one of the strongest carry players in the history of the game, Ame failed three times to secure the championship title. In 2018 and 2021, he finished second with PSG.LGD, and in 2025 with Xtreme Gaming. This streak of losses cemented his reputation as one of the most talented players who never managed to claim the "Aegis."
