Team Nemesis accuses Talon Esports of failing to repay a large debt
Team Nemesis CEO Chris Momo Evans stated that Talon Esports owes him $75,000. Although the organization repaid the principal loan, the interest, according to him, has not been paid. Evans shared the details on social network X.
According to Evans, the situation began when Talon Esports approached him for a short-term loan, but the repayment deadlines were missed. He also emphasized that his statement was directed not only at the management of the organization but also at its staff and players.
Talon Esports came to me asking to borrow one million dollars exactly two months ago. We agreed that the money would be returned within one to two weeks, but it dragged on for almost two months. The principal was repaid on Friday, but there’s still $75,000 in interest outstanding, and my personal messages are being ignored. This message is so that your players and staff know about your behavior and that you still owe me money
Talon Esports co-founder Sean Zhang responded to the accusations, explaining that an accounting error had occurred, for which he takes full responsibility. According to him, the team repaid the principal debt of one million dollars but did not account for the interest. Zhang emphasized that as CEO he will conduct an internal investigation, and the interest payment is promised to be made tomorrow morning Hong Kong time.He also said the conflict could have been resolved privately, but Evans chose to go public.
Unfortunately, the tweet was published in such a malicious form, even though the issue could have been handled in a much more civilized manner… I expect Momo to reach out to us and discuss, in a polite way, how we can restore our relationship
However, Momo remained firm in his position and accused Zhang of lying, noting that the loan was officially documented. He stated that over the past two months he had repeatedly received false promises regarding the transfer deadlines, including a case where it was claimed that the funds had already been sent, but confirmation had to be requested additionally. Chris also emphasized that the loan is confirmed by documentation.
Caster Vladimir Maelstorm Kuzminov added more intrigue, claiming that players within Talon Esports have been spreading rumors about lawsuits against the organization for unpaid prize money. According to him, this was the real reason the club borrowed money from the Team Nemesis owner.
