OpTic Gaming is an American esports organization founded in 2006 by Ryan OpTic J Musselman and OpTic Enigma. The club was later led by Hector H3CZ Rodriguez, under whose leadership the organization became one of the biggest brands in global esports.

Following successes in Call of Duty, Halo, and Gears of War, the club launched a Dota 2 division in 2017, signing one of North America’s strongest teams.

2017

In September 2017, OpTic Gaming signed the The Dire roster, which included Per Anders Pajkatt Olsen Lille, Quinn Quinn Callahan, Ludwig zai Walberg, Rasmus MiSeRy Filipsen, and Peter ppd Dager.

Just two months later, MiSeRy left the team, and his spot was initially filled by Martin Saksa Sazdov. Later, Neta 33 Shapira joined the team, replacing zai in the offlaner position.

Almost immediately, the team rose to become one of the strongest in North America. In its debut season, OpTic Gaming took second place at ROG MASTERS 2017 and also won the Midas Mode championship, which featured other top teams.

2018

2018 was the most successful year in the team’s history. The team won the StarLadder ImbaTV Invitational Season 5, took second place at ESL One Birmingham 2018, and successfully advanced through the North American qualifiers for The International 2018.

At the main tournament of the year, the team reached the playoffs but lost to Virtus.pro and finished in the top 8. This result marked OpTic Gaming’s best achievement in Dota 2.

Despite these successful results, almost immediately after The International 2018, the organization unexpectedly announced the dissolution of the roster, bringing the Dota 2 division’s history to a close.
