Malaysia has traditionally been considered one of the strongest countries in Southeast Asia in Dota 2. The national team regularly participates in international tournaments, and Malaysian players are among the most successful in the region.

2022

Their first major success was their victory at Commonwealth Esports Championships 2022.

The roster included all five players from Atlantis, among them Chang Ws Wei Shen and Pang ponyo Se Xuan.

Throughout the tournament, Team Malaysia team did not lose a single series and won gold medals.

2023

In the fall of 2023, the national team received an invitation to the 2022 Asian Games, which had been postponed by one year.

The roster included Daniel Ghost Chan, Chen NothingToSay Jin Xiang, Jian Wei xNova Yap, Tia JT- Zhong Wen, and Ng YamateH Wei Poong.

Chai Mushi Yee Fung was named head coach; he had previously played for the national team himself and also had coaching experience with BOOM Esports.

Team Malaysia advanced to the semifinals, where they lost to China, then defeated Kyrgyzstan in the third-place match to finish the tournament in the top three.

2026

In June 2026, the roster for the Malaysian national team for the first Esports Nations Cup was announced.

The roster included players who had previously represented the country at other tournaments: Ghost, NothingToSay, Ws, xNova, as well as Nicholas zeal Lim Eng Han. Kok Chucky Hin Chan and Yeik MidOne Nai Zheng were named as substitutes.

Adam 343 Shah was appointed as head coach; he has extensive coaching experience and previously led compLexity, Fnatic, Blacklist International, and other teams.

Throughout the year, each of them demonstrated strong performance with their respective clubs. As a result, Team Malaysia ranked third in the national standings and received a direct invitation to the main event.
