Gambit Esports is a Russian esports organization founded in 2013. Following its successes in League of Legends and Counter-Strike, the club launched a Dota 2 division, which within a few years became one of the strongest in the CIS.

2017–2018

In May 2017, Gambit signed the entire Thug Life roster, which included Nikita Daxak Kuzmin, Zaur Cooman Shakhmurzaev, Andrey ALWAYSWANNAFLY Bondarenko, Evgeny chshrct Kostrama, and Danil Bignum Shekhovtsov.

Already in their debut season, the team regularly competed in online tournaments and qualifiers.

Throughout 2018, the organization changed its roster several times. Playing for Gambit were Andrey Afoninje Afonin, Andrey VANSKOR Bondarenko, Evgeny Noticed Ignatenko, Rostislav fn Lozovoy, Rinat KingR Abdullin, and other well-known players from the CIS scene.

2019–2020

In early 2019, the organization signed Artem fng Barshak and Alexander Immersion Khmelevsky, who replaced VANSKOR and KingR.

Early in the year, the team took second place at The Bucharest Minor and ESL One Katowice 2019, and also won WePlay! Dota 2 Valentine Madness, defeating NiP in the final.

After failing to qualify for The International 2019, some players left the roster, and the organization had to find replacements. Thus, Danil gpk~ Skutin and Kyalbek dream Tayirov joined the club.

The team continued to compete in Dota Pro Circuit tournaments and, at the end of the year, took silver at ESL One Hamburg 2019.

After the season ended, their results began to decline. Throughout 2020, Gambit completely overhauled its roster several times, and many of the team’s leaders moved to other clubs, including Virtus.pro, Team Spirit, and Alliance.

2021–2022

In early 2021, the organization announced a partnership with the French soccer club AS Monaco. As a result, the main Dota 2 roster began competing under the name AS Monaco Gambit, while the secondary roster retained the Gambit Esports tag and was soon renamed Gambit-2.

AS Monaco Gambit featured Vladimir No[o]ne Minenko, Akbar SoNNeikO Butaev, Vasily AfterLife Shishkin, dream, Immersion, and other well-known CIS players. In 2021, the team participated in the ONE Esports Singapore Major and the WePlay AniMajor, and also competed in the CIS Dota Pro Circuit Division 1.

However, the team lasted only two months, competing in several DPC tournaments.

In the fall, the organization reformed the roster under the Gambit Esports banner, which included Alexey Smiling Knight Sviridov, Maxim mellojul Pnev, AfterLife, Oleg sayuw Kelenbet, and Nikita Pantomem Balaganin, led by coach Timur Ahilles Kulmukhambetov, who previously worked with Khan and Team Empire.

Despite several successful performances on the regional scene, the club was unable to return to its former level of success.

In the spring of 2022, first AS Monaco Gambit and then the main roster of Gambit Esports were disbanded, after which the organization permanently shut down its Dota 2 division.
