“Fata is a genius. He opened up a new level of understanding of Dota for me”, — YapzOr on his experience playing for Team Secret
Former pro player Yazied YapzOr Jaradat discussed his experience working with Adrian Fata Trinks at Team Secret and shared key insights that significantly improved his play. He discussed his career in a podcast with Maurice KheZu Gutmann.
"I asked myself questions like: ‘Why did they get the advantage in the fight? I picked him up on Rubick before he could press anything. That wasn't pro-thinking. Fata explained that you have to look at the bigger picture: "Don't worry about how you pressed the skill. They jumped first, and we're already fighting on their terms anyway". He talked about the vision advantage and team fight initiation.
At first, it sounded like mumbo jumbo to me. My reaction was, “What the **** is this?” It's like a new Dota, you know? It gave me an important understanding of the whole macro process of the game and how team fights work. I was very focused on my hero and what I was doing, but Dota is a more complex game. It was the mindset of a Tier 2-Tier 3 player, something like, “Look, this would have been a good fight if we had used that spell.” No, no, no, no, no, brother. We could have avoided this whole situation if we had just thought about the bigger picture."
YapzOr also noted that top-level players are different in that they simplify complex actions and processes. In his experience, systematic thinking, discipline, emotional control, and understanding the game as a whole are much more important than luck in individual moments.
Yazied considers the balance of “energy” in the team to be equally important. He cited the 2019 Team Secret roster as an example: "There should be no excess of adrenaline, but also no excessive passivity — it was the stability of Zai, Puppey, and Nisha that provided a solid foundation for the team. Nisha was at the level of Miracle at that time", — according to YapzOr, ”His mechanics, calmness, and intuitive decisions created the feeling that the team was always in the game as long as he was alive. At the same time, the unstable genius MidOne, who was practically unbeatable at his prime, diluted the calm and stability with his bold first-pick heroes, which sometimes went beyond the meta, and made unconventional decisions."
YapzOr competed on the professional Dota 2 scene from 2013 to 2022. During his career, he earned over $2,200,000 in prize money. On a podcast with KheZu, Jaradat said that he is now actively involved in trading and investing.
As CyberScore reported earlier, Team Secret announced the suspension of its Dota activities.
