Back in OG after five years: Topson talks about his return and career future

In an interview with the organizers of BLAST Slam VIII, Topias Topson Taavitsainen spoke about his return to OG after almost five years and discussed his professional future. The Finnish midlaner admitted that competing professionally still attracts him more than streaming, while this new stage of his career could potentially be his last.

The same people are still here, and I think this is a good place. I started my career in OG, and maybe I will end it here as well. So it feels nice.

Among the factors that influenced his decision, the midlaner also mentioned the presence of Sébastien Ceb Debs at the club, describing his former teammate as someone he can always rely on.

At the same time, Topson had already announced his retirement from his Dota 2 career. In September 2024, after finishing third at The International 2024, he left Tundra Esports and stepped away from the competitive scene. The Finn did not play for any teams for almost two years before returning in August 2026 as a temporary substitute for LGD Gaming at The International 2026.

The midlaner finished 9th–13th with the Chinese organization and admitted after their elimination that he did not want to end his career with such a result. Taavitsainen then said that he was considering playing one more full season before deciding on his future plans.

On September 23, Topson eventually returned to OG, where he previously played from 2018 to 2021. The Finn won The International twice with the organization, claiming the titles in 2018 and 2019. His last official match for the club before his return took place at The International 2021, where the team finished 7th–8th.

The first tournament for the updated roster was BLAST Slam VIII, which runs from 29.09.2026 to 11.10.2026. The championship features 16 teams competing for a $750,000 prize pool. You can follow the tournament in detail in our coverage.
