Top teams losing the most leads: who missed out on victories most often in matches in 2025
The service datdota has published fresh analytics showing which teams in 2025 most often lost significant gold advantages and ultimately dropped matches - the so-called “throws.”
In esports, especially in Dota 2, the term throw refers to a situation where a team, confidently leading in gold, experience, or map control, makes a series of critical mistakes and loses its advantage, allowing the opponent to turn the game around. Such matches often become some of the most dramatic but usually result in painful losses for the teams involved.
From the beginning of 2025 until mid-July, and also within the current 7.39 patch, the top teams with the highest average lost advantage were Tundra Esports, Nigma Galaxy, and PARIVISION, along with Edge, Yakult Brothers, and L1GA TEAM.
Top 3 teams by thrown games since the start of 2025:
- Tundra Esports lost an average of 5,016.8 gold in lost matches, having been defeated in 62 games during this period. In 23 cases, they lost more than 5,000 gold, and in 7 matches, the throw exceeded 15,000 gold.
- Nigma Galaxy averaged 4,983.2 gold lost per defeat across 61 losses, with 19 matches where the lead dropped by more than 5,000 gold and 5 matches with a throw exceeding 15,000 gold.
- PARIVISION recorded an average loss of 4,678.1 gold per defeat in 39 lost matches, including 11 games with over 5,000 gold thrown away and 4 matches where the throw surpassed 15,000 gold.
Also, the top 3 teams in patch 7.39:
- Edge lost an average of 5,167.4 gold per defeat across 16 matches. In 4 games, they lost a lead of over 5,000 gold, and in 2 matches, the throw exceeded 15,000 gold.
- Yakult Brothers averaged 4,921.1 gold lost per defeat in 16 games, with 7 matches ending in a throw of more than 5,000 gold and 2 games where the loss exceeded 10,000 gold.
- L1GA TEAM lost an average of 4,627.3 gold per defeat in 10 matches, with 3 games where over 5,000 gold was lost, and 2 matches where the throw surpassed 10,000 gold.
It’s also worth noting NAVI Junior as one of the most consistent teams in 2025: on average, they lost only 922.4 gold in games they lost (across 27 defeats), and only twice did their lead drop beyond the 5,000 gold mark, which is significantly lower than most other teams. Currently, the NAVI Junior roster has become the organization’s main roster.
Interestingly, Nigma Galaxy appears in the top rankings of both reports, showing instability throughout the season as well as in the latest patch. The top 5 of patch 7.39 also includes Natus Vincere and Shopify Rebellion.
Previously, Cyberscore reported that Yuragi would play for Yellow Submarine in the European Pro League Season 28.
