The International 2025: Valve announces date and format

The International 2025 will take place in two stages: "Road to The International," which will be held from 04.09.2025 to 07.09.2025, while the main stage is scheduled for September 11–14.

Tournament Format

In the first stage of The International 2025, 16 teams will compete in a single group using the Swiss format:

• Three teams that win four BO3 series in five rounds will advance directly to the main stage;
• Three teams that lose four matches will be eliminated from the tournament;
• The remaining 10 participants will play an additional round, after which five more teams will qualify.

The final stage of The International 2025 will be played in a Double Elimination format. All eight teams will start in the upper bracket, with seeding determined by the results of the first stage. The grand final will be played as a BO5, while all other matches will be BO3.

Venue and Ticket Sales

The final stage matches will take place at Barclays Arena in Hamburg, Germany. Ticket sales will begin on 15.04.2025 and will be available as single-day and multi-day passes.
