The average number of Dota 2 viewers has almost doubled
Esports Charts, an analytics portal, has shared viewing statistics for Dota 2 tournaments over the past year. Despite the drop in peak online, airtime and viewing hours, the average number of viewers has increased and exceeds the peak figures of previous years by almost two times.

These changes are directly attributable to the elimination of the DPC league, which was the format in which most tournaments were held from 2017 through 2023. Last year, Valve abandoned the DPC in favor of events organized by tournament operators for a greater variety of formats and increased competition.
So, this year the number of tournaments decreased significantly, which negatively affected the amount of airtime and the total hours watched, but the audience interest in them increased, due to bigger prizes and better organization, which positively affected the average number of viewers. And the upcoming Riyadh Masters 2024 and The International 2024 are also likely to significantly boost peak viewers numbers.
As CyberScore reported earlier, Valve announced the start of ticket sales for The International 2024.
