“I am shocked that the developers do not care this much”, — Noticed on ranking issues in Dota 2
Team Yandex offlaner Evgeny Noticed Ignatenko believes that developers should bring back a seasonal ranking model and periodically reset ranks.
Ignatenko also noted that matchmaking used to be more competitive and motivated players to try harder in ranked matches.
It used to be interesting to play: many strong lobbies, players tried their best, and matchmaking felt active. Now, however, no one seems to care and the situation feels awful. What is the point of these ranks if they effectively show nothing.
According to the esports player, the current ranking system has lost its value and a high rating no longer reflects the real skill level.
The “Titan” rank should be valuable. Currently, a huge number of ranking positions simply make no sense. A seasonal reset would help balance the system and restore competition. For example, when the winter season ends, ranks are reset and high-MMR players start again from the “Titan” rank.

Other content creators and esports players have also advocated for changes to the ranking system, stating that the increase of the maximum rating in Dota 2 prevents young players from reaching the professional scene.
It is worth noting that in recent years Valve has stopped resetting ratings and making changes to the ranking system. With the introduction of the new Glicko calibration, a large number of MMR doubledown tokens and the rank confidence system, significant rating inflation began. As a result, the number of accounts holding the “Titan” rank increased considerably, while the value of rating at lower and higher levels started to differ substantially.
At the moment, the maximum rating is around 18,000, while the first place in the European region is held by Aurora Gaming carry Egor Nightfall Grigorenko. Meanwhile, Noticed is ranked 35th with more than 16,000 MMR.
Earlier, Cyberscore reported on the conclusion of the seasonal event “Quarteros Curios” and the possible release of a new update.
