“I should have taken a break earlier”, — Gpk on burnout and a possible return

Former BetBoom Team midlaner Danil Gpk Skutin explained the reasons behind his decision to go inactive in an interview with Cybersport and admitted that he is still unsure whether he will return to the professional Dota 2 scene. The player also shared details about his previous season and discussed his relationships with former teammates.

According to Skutin, the main reason for his break was accumulated physical and psychological fatigue. He found the daily routine particularly exhausting, as it involved training sessions and playing a large number of ranked matches.

Danil had considered taking a break even before the start of the previous season but ultimately decided to continue competing.

I had already thought about taking a break before last season. But then I decided I still had enough energy and should keep going. In fact, that was a mistake. I should have taken at least a 2–3 month break to recharge.

Speaking about his future, Gpk said that he plans to consider offers from professional teams closer to the New Year but has not made a final decision yet. The player is currently enjoying his flexible schedule and actively focusing on streaming.

Moreover, he admitted that he might not return to the competitive scene if his streaming income becomes comparable to his salary as a professional player.

If streaming paid me the same amount, I wouldn't return to the professional scene. You get less tired and enjoy what you're doing. But that's how I feel right now. I don't know what I'll think in a couple of months.

The midlaner also discussed his relationships with his former BetBoom Team teammates. Among the carry players he had competed alongside, he named Ivan Pure Moskalenko as the teammate he felt most comfortable playing with, highlighting their good understanding both in and outside the game.

He also spoke positively about Ilya Kiritych Ulyanov, emphasizing his improvement throughout the season. However, according to Skutin, playing with Egor Nightfall Grigorenko was more difficult due to issues with both gameplay and communication.

The player also commented on Vitaly Save Melnik's move to the midlane, a position he previously held himself. Danil noted that he remains in contact with his former teammate and is willing to offer him advice if needed.

Earlier, CyberScore reported on the updated BetBoom Team roster following Gpk's move to the inactive.
