Fortune and Tarot Cards: New Details Emerge About an Upcoming Dota 2 Event

Following the release of patch 7.41, a wealth of information about potential future content has been discovered in Dota 2’s data. Data miners have already shared their most interesting findings, particularly regarding an event titled “Dark Carnival.”

The event’s name was discovered as early as last fall. It has now been revealed that one of the key mechanics will be “Fortune” — players will choose one of the Tarot cards to complete a challenge and receive rewards.

According to information provided by the author of the Telegram channel “Dota Stepan”, “Fortune” is a reworked version of the “Crownfall” mechanic, which in turn was based on the "Catacombs" from Battle Passes.

Based on the list of rewards, the ”Candy Caravan" will return to Dota 2, where players could purchase cosmetic sets, including Arcana, for candy. Additionally, the developers haven’t abandoned mini-games. A counterpart to “Nest of Thorns” from “Crownfall” will be a mode with the working title “Item Battler.” It is expected to be a game in the auto-chess and roguelike genres.

As a reminder, in Patch 7.41, Oracle received a new buff from Aghanim’s Scepter, whose mechanics are tied to Tarot cards. One might assume that the character will become a key figure in the event, but it seems it will actually be Ringmaster, with whom certain dialogues have already been written, while Oracle’s new ability is likely just an Easter egg. Two animations tagged “Dark Carnival” have also been discovered for Mirana. Dataminers speculate that the hero will receive a rare set with unique animations that will be displayed on the banner in the main menu.

The rumor previously shared by Yaroslav NS Kuznetsov has been partially confirmed. A major event is coming, but it is unlikely to resemble “Siltbreaker” or “Aghanim`s Labyrinth”; rather, it is more akin to “Crownfall”.
