What is Split-push?
Split-push is a tactic for the late stages of the game. In this strategy, one hero pushing the lane while the team distracts the enemy in another part of the map. The main goal of split-push is to distract the enemy and create an advantage that forces the enemy to make decisions that are not always favorable.
To be most effective, a character must have high mobility, survivability, and high damage, such as Natures Prophet, Anti-Mage, and Lycan. One of the most striking examples of split-push was the final of The International 2013, where Alliance outplayed Na'Vi using this strategy. AdmiralBulldog on Nature's Prophet constantly pressured the lanes while his teammates distracted the enemy. The culmination was the famous “Million Dollar Dream Coil” when s4 knocked out Na'Vi's teleports, which allowed his team to break the throne and win.
