What is Overlay?
An overlay is an additional layer of information displayed on top of the game screen. In Dota 2, overlays show crucial data — such as ability status, gold amount, rune spawn timers, or cooldown trackers. They help players make faster decisions and stay aware of the game state.
The term "overlay" can also refer to third-party match analysis tools like Overplus or Overwolf. These tools provide players with information that cannot be obtained through regular gameplay, such as individual player stats, average match rating, or visual representation of cosmetic items the player does not actually own.
It's important to note that such programs are often considered cheats or violations of Valve’s rules, and using them may result in account suspension or a game ban.
