During the Frostivus 2023 winter event in Dota 2, Valve introduced the "Toxic Lump of Coal" — a special item given to players for violations such as smurfing and other rule breaches. This gift served as a warning: the regular "Toxic Lump of Coal" signaled misconduct, while the "Very Toxic Lump of Coal" meant a permanent account ban. This creative approach reminded players of the importance of fair play and following the rules. Among the recipients were well-known streamers, which drew community attention. The "Toxic Lump of Coal" became a symbol of punishment and responsibility in Dota 2.
