What is Kiting?

Kiting is a tactic of keeping the enemy at a distance, avoiding direct confrontation. The essence of it is to deal damage from afar while preventing the enemy from closing in or retreating, and to provoke them into unfavorable situations. Kiting can also involve distracting an opponent from their key objectives like farming or warding — wasting their time without giving them any real benefit.
The term "kiting" comes from video games: kite means "a flying kite" in English. The idea is that a hero keeps their distance while dealing damage and moving away from the enemy, as if "dragging" them behind.
This tactic is usually used by mobile heroes, supports with crowd control, and ranged heroes, especially those who can slow or disable their pursuer.
Imagine: Troll Warlord is close to dying in a fight and triggers his ultimate, which allows him to heal through attacks with lifesteal. However, the enemy instantly uses Eul's Scepter of Divinity on him. While he's in the air, he can't deal damage or heal, effectively wasting the duration of his ultimate.
