What is Damage block?

Damage block is a mechanic in Dota 2 that reduces a fixed amount of incoming physical damage from each attack. Unlike armor, which reduces damage by a percentage, damage block cuts a specific number of damage before other modifiers are applied.
This mechanic is especially effective against heroes with fast but weak attacks, as it significantly reduces their damage output due to frequent block triggers. The effect can be gained through items (such as Vanguard) or abilities and is often used on tanks and frontline heroes to increase survivability in prolonged fights.
For example, Infused Raindrops block 120 magical damage when taking ability damage, if the incoming damage exceeds 75. This item is especially useful in the early game for surviving against heroes with strong magical burst.
