History
Yellow Submarine is a Dota 2 cybersport team founded in late 2014 in Russia. Yellow Submarine was active on the pro scene until 2017 and became known for winning the European qualification for The International 2015 and some regional tournaments.
The first players in the debut squad were Miposhka and Barash, and 2 months later Dale* and PSM joined, the latter of whom became the captain of the team. They managed to play and gain good form by May, just in time for the European open qualifications for The International 2015. At that event Yellow Submarine became the winner, but failed at the next stage. Also throughout the year, the team took prizes at Dash 3 tournaments, the most important of which were Uprise Champions Cup Season 2 (gold), Hitbox EU Championship #3 (silver) and StarLadder ProSeries Season 12 (bronze).
Yellow Submarine has been replacing every now and then, and during the year the roster has changed quite a few players. ARTES and PSM were the most active players in 2016. This year was also rich in results at regional events: with a score of 3:1 Yellow Submarine defeated Prodota Gaming in the final of Hitbox Elite Cup. The team received a nice check compared to the rest of their performances at the M.Video Dota2 Open, losing to Comanche in the final Bo2 series of the tournament. By the end of the year, serious setbacks followed, and the team couldn't get above 5th-6th place even at small scale events. Due to this, a disbanding of the squad takes place in December.
During the next 3 years Yellow Submarine began to participate in tournaments very rarely and far from perfect - 5-8th place at Dom.ru Championship 2018 and 5-8th place at the open qualifications for EPICENTER Major 2019. In the middle of 2020 under the Yellow Submarine tag a new lineup consisting of Miposhka, Collapse, so bad, mio (TORONTOTOKYO) and Yatoro was assembled, which began to perform much more actively.
- In December 2020 the team moved under the aegis of the main organization and the well-known Team Spirit.
In 2023, Yellow Submarine formed a new roster that included 15-year-old curry player Satanic. Team Spirit manager Korb3n wanted the team to be sponsored by his organization, but ESL rules prevented multiple teams under the same owner from playing in the same tournament, so he set about creating a separate legal entity (with him as CEO) to allow this to happen.
Despite the lack of support for Team Spirit, the revitalized Yellow Submarine roster showed a lot of promise in 2024, placing 5th-6th at the Pinnacle 25th Anniversary Show, beating teams like SIBE Team and Natus Vincere. The team also proved to be highly competitive in qualifiers for a number of major tournaments, including a very close loss to 9Pandas in the close qualifiers for Elite League 2024. In addition, Yellow Submarine won at Winline Insight Season 5 and finished in the top 3 at European Pro League 17: Division 1, and participated in several more tournaments afterwards.
- On May 31, 2024, kasane joined Yellow Submarine and replaced AIND in the third position.
With the revamped squad, the team traveled to qualify for the Riyadh Masters 2024 and The International 2024, but failed each. After a near-failure season, Korb3n hinted at an imminent lineup reshuffle.
Yellow Submarine later qualified for Elite League Season 2, where they placed 11th, as well as 8th at LEON.BET MASTERS #1 and 14th at FISSURE Universe Ep . 3. The team failed to qualify for PGL Wallachia Season 2.
- February 11, 2025 — Yellow Submarine signed the roster of the BanyaPivoSamogon stack: ififall, mrls, Htrd, nesfeer, and re1bl.
The updated tag managed to qualify for PGL Wallachia: Season 3, but could not compete with the full lineup due to visa issues for Htrd — he was replaced by mangekyou. In the tournament itself, the team failed to reach the playoffs and finished in 9th-10th place. After that, the team disbanded its roster.
On May 31, 2025, the young carry player Andrey bottega joined the team on loan from BetBoom Team.
At the European Pro League Season 28 tournament, the team made a roster change. Instead of carry Andrey Bottega Kopytko, Artem Yuragi Golubev will play. On 2 November, Ilya Illidan Pivcaev took over as coach of Yellow Submarine.
