History
Ukraine is one of the strongest nations in the history of professional Dota. It was Ukrainian players who became the first champions of The International, and the national team has been among the strongest in Europe for many years.
2007–2009
The national team’s first international tournament was MYM Prime Nations 1 in 2007.
The team’s initial roster included Ivan Artstyle Antonov, Artur Goblak Kostenko, Alexander DkPhobos Kucheria, as well as ChangerH and VaU-NitrO.
In the years that followed, Ukraine was represented by many well-known players of that era.
In 2009, at the European Nations Championship, midlaner Danil Dendi Ishutin joined the team’s roster and made a significant contribution to the national team’s victory in that tournament.
In the final, the team defeated Romania and won its first major title among national teams.
2016–2023
After a long hiatus, the national team returned to regular competition on the international stage, competing in the ProDotA National Cup, as well as the World Electronic Sports Games 2016 and 2018.
Over the years, the national team has included Andriy ALWAYSWANNAFLY Bondarenko, Andriy Ghostik Kadyk, Roman Resolut1on Fominok, Vladimir No[o]ne- Minenko, and other well-known Ukrainian players have represented the national team over the years.
It is worth noting that by that time, Dendi and Artstyle, who had previously been active members of the national team, had already become champions of the first The International in 2011.
In 2022, Ukraine qualified for the IESF World Esports Championship 2022 but did not compete in the championship itself.
A year later, the team once again won the qualifiers and competed in the IESF World Esports Championship 2023, finishing the tournament among the world’s top eight teams.
2025
In 2025, Ukraine competed in the qualifiers for the European Esports Championship 2025 and finished in the top 4, earning an invitation to the main tournament.
The core of the team consisted of players from Apple City Gang, including Oleg yowaai Mikhailov, Nikita dualrazee Dubinsky, Taras Norma Pavlov, and Denis flacko Pavlenko. However, the team once again failed to qualify for the main stage of the championship.
2026
In early 2026, the largest national Dota 2 championship, the Esports Nations Cup, was announced with a prize pool of $1,500,000.
Andrei Ghostik Kadyk became the national team’s head coach and was responsible for selecting the roster.
Since Ukrainian esports players who regularly compete on the Tier 1 scene — such as Illya Yatoro Mulyarchuk, Vladimir No[o]ne- Minenko, and Miroslav Mira Kolpakov, are ineligible to represent the Ukrainian national team because they played for the same clubs as Russian players, the final roster included three players from Natus Vincere and two members of Team Lynx: Taras gotthejuice Linnikov, Artem Niku Bachkur, Yuriy pma Proc, Vitaliy QBFY Ivanov, and Konstantin kreker Dolomakin. Alexey onLiTaL Litovka and Vladimir akamu Zakrzhevsky were named as reserve players.
Thanks to the players’ performances on the Tier 1 scene, the team entered the top 16 of the national rankings and received a direct invitation to the Esports Nations Cup, bypassing the qualifying stage.
