Ninjas in Pyjamas is a Swedish esports organization founded in 2000 by former professional Counter-Strike players Tommy Potti Ingemarsson and Kristoffer Tootzi Olsson.

The club is one of the most recognizable brands in global esports, and during its time competing in Dota 2, its rosters have repeatedly ranked among the strongest teams in Europe.

2015

In January 2015, the organization launched its Dota 2 division by signing the LAJONS roster. It consisted of Adrian Era Crieziu, Linus Limmp Blomdin, Jonas jonassomfan Lindholm, Simon Handsken Rasmus Haag, and Elias Sealkid Merta.

Throughout the season, the team regularly competed in major European tournaments and qualifiers.

During the season, the team won the joinDOTA MLG Pro League Season 2 championship and finished in the top three at StarLadder StarSeries Season 11 and DreamLeague Season 3. However, NiP failed to qualify for The International.

At the end of the season, the organization announced the dissolution of the roster due to failing to meet its goals.

2017–2020

In 2017, Ninjas in Pyjamas returned to the scene, but the first roster lasted less than half a year. By the fall of 2018, the club had signed a new five-man roster, which included Markus Ace Hölgard, Adrian FATA- Trinks, Neta 33 Shapira, Martin Saksa Sazdov, and Peter ppd Dager.

This lineup went on to become the most successful in the organization’s history. Over the course of several years on the professional scene, the team reached the top 4 at The Kuala Lumpur Major and The Bucharest Minor, won OGA Dota PIT Minor 2019 and StarLadder ImbaTV Dota 2 Minor Season 2, and competed at The International 2019.

In the years that followed, Rodrigo Lelis Santos, Saahil Universe Arora, Nikita Daxak Kuzmin, and other well-known players joined the team. After a successful 2019 season, numerous roster changes led to a decline in the team’s performance. Gradually, NiP stopped qualifying for Tier 1 championships, remaining confined to online tournaments.

In the spring of 2020, ppd left the organization, announcing the end of his career. A few days later, the rest of the roster was disbanded, and the organization signed the Chicken Fighters squad, which included Akbar SoNNeikO Butaev and Jonas SaberLight Volek.

The new roster failed to achieve significant results, and in November, the club permanently shut down its Dota 2 division, focusing all its attention on Counter-Strike 2.
