History

SG esports is a cybersports organization represented only in Dota 2. It was the first Brazilian team to qualify for the majors.

SG esports was founded in late 2016. Its first major tournament was the World Electronic Sports Games 2016, where hFn, 4dr, tavo, Kingrd and c4t reached 5-8th place. After SG esports qualified for The Kiev Major 2017, where she sensationally beat Team Secret in the playoffs. At the qualifications for The International 2017 the team stopped a step away from the exit, losing to Infamous Gaming. In the new season, the organization renewed the roster - Costabile, Lelis, Bardo and Thiolicor replaced the old players. SG esports established itself as the leader of its region, qualifying for several Valve tournaments at once, but the team failed to rise above the 5th-6th place. At the qualifications for The International 2018, the team was again unsuccessful - in the final it lost to paiN Gaming with a score of 2:3.

Changes in the squad could not be avoided, and therefore it was decided to completely renew the roster. The new five looked like this - Golem, mini, Sexyfat, MahhxD and SG.Luci. In the 2018-2019 season SG esports was unrecognizable - from a regular participant of major tournaments it turned into a dash-3 team of its region, constantly failing at qualifications to majors and minors. Although the team made it through the open qualifiers for The International 2019, they finished in last place in the closed qualifiers. After that, the organization decided to temporarily quit Dota.

When a new DPC season was announced for 2021, SG esports decided to assemble a new roster (Costabile, 4dr, Kingrd, Thiolicor, KJ) to qualify for The International 2021. After finishing third at the OGA DPC South America Regional League Season 1: Upper Division, the organization decided to replace Kingrd with tavo, but this did not help the team qualify for WePlay AniMajor. SG esports sensationally won the qualification for The International 2021, leaving behind other favorites. At the tournament itself, the team did not show a decent result and left the tournament in 17th-18th place. After a disappointing performance during the 2021-2022 season, the organization announced its withdrawal from the discipline.
