History

Virtus.Pro is one of the most well-known and oldest esports organizations in the CIS, founded back in 2003. In the classic version of DotA, the team displayed impressive results (for example, a three-win streak at MYM Prime Defending) and included such well-known personalities in the community as NS, LighTofHeaveN, Smile, and others. The initial Dota 2 roster formed for The International 2012 qualifiers consisted of familiar faces such as NS, Dread, and KuroKy.

It is worth noting that until 2015, the Virtus.Pro lineup lacked stability, resulting in various players joining and leaving the team at different times, including Illidan, God, JotM, Goblak, 633, Sedoy, KSi, blowyourbrain, and other active or retired professional players. In 2015, the management confirmed the ASUS Polar team as Virtus.Pro's main roster. Led by the young and ambitious fng, the team secured 5-6th place at The International 2015, earning the coveted $1 million. However, subsequent reshuffles that brought in ALOHADANCE, yoky-, and Nofear weakened the lineup, causing them to miss The International 2016 by not advancing past the group stage in the European qualifiers.

The following season, Virtus.Pro regrouped with a familiar lineup that fans recognized: RAMZES666, No[o]ne, 9pasha, Lil, and Solo. Long-term collaboration and the management's trust in the players began to yield excellent results: 5-8th place at The Boston Major 2016, followed by 2nd place at The Kiev Major 2017 and 5-6th place at The International 2017.

To further strengthen the roster, the team made a transfer with Natus Vincere, exchanging Lil for RodjER with an additional payment of $75,000. The investment paid off significantly, as the team secured victories at ESL One Katowice 2018, The Bucharest Major, ESL One Birmingham 2018, and The Kuala Lumpur Major with the new player. Overall, Virtus.Pro and Team Secret share the record for the most major tournament victories, both having five to their name.

The roster faced a crisis during The International 2019: losing to Royal Never Give Up and ultimately finishing 9-12th, which led to expected changes. RAMZES666 was transferred to Evil Geniuses for $100,000+, 9pasha moved to Natus Vincere, and RodjER joined Winstrike Team. The final decisions for the revamped team included adding Zayac and Resolut1on, as well as the creation of the "youth" roster, VP.Prodigy.
