Bio
Lu Fenrir Chao is a Chinese professional player and coach. Lu is the all time leader in professional matches played as Shadow Demon (114 matches and 72 wins) and the all time leader in professional matches won as Skywrath Mage (74 matches and 51 wins).
Fenrir started his pro career in 2013 when he joined Vici Gaming, with whom he played at The International 2014 and Dota 2 Asia Championships 2015, and won at ESL One New York 2014, The Summit 2 and StarLadder StarSeries Season 12. After failing at The Shanghai Major 2016, the organization completely disbanded the roster and Fenrir moved to EHOME, with whom he finished 5th-6th at The International 2016. In the 2016-2017 season Fenrir played for VGJ.Thunder, where his biggest achievement was 5-8th position at The Kiev Major 2017. After failing to qualify for The International 2017, the organization disbanded its roster, after which Fenrir moved to Vici Gaming.
Together with Eurus, Ori, old eLeVeN and LaNm Fenrir took second place at ESL One Katowice 2018 and third place at MDL Changsha Major, but at The International 2018 the team took only 9-12th place, after which Lu moved to Team Aster. The team constantly took the last places at majors, and failing to qualify for several major tournaments in a row motivated Fenrir to leave to finish the season in Newbee. The team failed to qualify for The International 2019, but Lou's last tournament as a member of Newbee saw success as he won the 2019 World Cyber Games. His last team as a player was Royal Never Give Up, where Fenrir failed to achieve significant results in 5 months. In April 2020, he ended his career as a pro player.
In January 2021, Fenrir became the coach of Vici Gaming. Under his leadership, the club reached fourth place at WePlay AniMajor and also took 5th-6th place at The International 2021. In 2023, VG disbanded its Dota 2 roster, and Lu became the coach of Xtreme Gaming. The team competed at Riyadh Masters 2023, where it finished in 15th-16th place.
In April 2025, Fenrir took the position of coach at Yakult's brothers. In May of the same year, the team took 2nd place at ACL X ESL Challenger China, earned $30,000 from the prize pool, and secured a slot at DreamLeague Season 26 and Asian Champions League 2025. However, Lu soon left the club.
