Valve banned over 75,000 accounts in Dota 2
With the release of the compendium update in Dota 2, Valve blocked more than 75,000 accounts involved in smurfing, rating boosting, and other unfair activities.
In the game’s official blog, it was noted that regardless of rating level, the goal of such measures is to make matches fairer and more enjoyable for all players.
In the run-up to The International 2025, we also blocked over 75,000 accounts caught in match-fixing, smurfing, and other violations. Whatever your rating, playing Dota is more enjoyable under fair conditions.
It should be recalled that Dota 2 previously faced a serious issue with smurf accounts and “win traders” at high ranks. Despite some improvements, the sharp increase in Immortal-ranked accounts and MMR inflation, according to many community figures, negatively affect match quality and reduce interest in the game for both casual players and professionals.
The International 2025 will take place from 04.09.2025 to 14.09.2025 in Hamburg, Germany, with 16 teams competing. The starting prize pool of the event is $1,600,000.
Earlier, Cyberscore reported that the “Cuartero`s Curios” event had begun in Dota 2.
