TeaGuvnor has started stream with a waiting room for patch 7.40. Could the update be released today?

Commentator and analyst Robson TeaGuvnor Merritt is hosting another unusual broadcast on Twitch ahead of the release of a new patch for Dota 2. This time, he will be chopping onions until the update is released.

Valve rarely releases major updates from Monday to Tuesday, but several factors indicate that the patch may be released today:

  • The group stage of DreamLeague Season 27 is coming to an end — several times in a row, the developers have released major gameplay updates between stages of this series of tournaments.
  • The crossover with Monster Hunter was also added to Dota 2 on Monday night. In addition, the Dota 2 Staging Server was updated this weekend, although these updates are usually only released on weekdays.
  • And TeaGuvnor's stream can already be considered an indication that a major patch will be added to the game today. The last time Robson held such a broadcast was in May, in anticipation of patch 7.39. At that time, he is stamping the word “patch” in his notebook, and the update was indeed released that same night.

Some fans believe that he is connected to Valve, as Merritt has repeatedly held similar streams with a “waiting room” for the new patch, and in most cases, the update did indeed come out a few hours later.

It should be noted that patch 7.39 is one of the longest in Dota 2 — it has been current for 206 days. The longest-running version in Dota was 7.32 — 240 days.

As CyberScore reported earlier, Nix named TeaGuvnor as the developer of Dota 2.
